Introduction:

As with previous versions of Windows, your hardware must meet certain requirements for Windows Server 2012 R2 to function properly. First, Windows Server 2012 R2 requires a 64-bit processor. Microsoft has abandoned the 32-bit software with this version of Windows Server. Below is the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for Windows Server 2012 R2 provided by Microsoft.

• Processor: Minimum: 64-bit processor at 1.4 GHz
• RAM: Minimum: 512 MB
• Disk space: Minimum: 32 GB

Other requirements:

• DVD player
• Super VGA monitor (800 x 600) or higher resolution
• Microsoft® Keyboard and Mouse (or other compatible pointing device)
• Internet access

Steps to follow:

In this easy step-by-step guide, we'll show you how to install and activate Windows Server 2012.
Before you start, you need to verify that you have the minimum requirements for installing Windows Server.
Now that we have everything we need, we can begin:
1- Insert the Windows Server 2012 DVD and, after you receive the following message, press Enter to start from the setup.

2- Wait for a few moments until the installation loads all necessary files (depending on your machine, it will take a few minutes)

3- Once the installation files have been loaded, the installation will start with the following screen. You can modify them to suit your needs.

4- Once you click Next, you can start the setup, click "Install Now"

5- You will see the next screen, wait until it finishes loading.

6- In the next setup screen you will see four options. Select the desired version. For example, the Standard version of Windows Server 2012.

7- Select “I accept the license terms” then click "Next"

8- Select "Custom: install Windows only".

9- Now, it will ask you for the drive (or partition) on which you want to install Windows. Here I will install it on the partition I have here.
Note: This will remove the contents of the partition.

10- Now, once we have chosen our partition, the setup will begin. This process could take some time.

11- Once the installation is complete, it restarts and starts your Windows Server 2012 for the first time. It will ask you to set a password for the administrator user.

The installation finalizes your settings. This may take a few minutes.

12- Once the configuration is complete, you can connect to your Windows server for the first time, as indicated on the screen.

13- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to connect, and use the password you defined in the installation process

14- Once connected, Windows Server 2012 displays the Server Manager
