How to reset your PC in Windows 10

If your computer does not work properly and you get unusual errors or you just want to restore it by default, Windows 10 has the answer for you. The operating system provides access to a number of options that allow you to restore your computer to a previous state. Here is how to reset your PC in Windows 10.

Steps to follow:


1. Click on the start menu then on settings

3. Click Recovery in the left pane.

Windows offers three main options:

1. Reset this PC.

2. Go back to a previous version of Windows 10

3. Advanced Start-up.

Resetting this PC is the best option to start fresh again.

Advanced boot allows you to create a USB drive or recovery disk and "upgrade to a previous version". This option is dedicated for Windows initiates who want to revert to a previous version of the operating system.

4. Click Get Started to Reset this PC.

5. Click "Keep My Files" or "Delete All", depending on whether you want to keep your data files intact. Anyway, all your settings will return to their default values and applications will be uninstalled.

6. Select "Just remove My Files" or "Remove Files and Clean the Drive".

If you have selected "Delete All" in the previous step. Cleaning the drive might take a few hours but it will make it harder for someone to recover your removed files.

If you are keeping the computer, choose "just remove my files".

7. Click Next if Windows warns you that you will not be able to revert to an earlier version of the operating system.

9. Windows restarts and then takes several minutes to reset.

10. Click Continue when prompted.
