How to easily defragment your Windows 10 hard drive

Introduction:
Over time, the files stored on your hard drive become fragmented and your computer slows down because it has to check multiple places on your drive for those tracks. To make your computer work more efficiently, use the built-in tool in Windows 10 to defragment these files.
Defragmenting a Windows 10 computer organizes fragmented files on the hard drive in a way that optimizes disk space and increases system performance.
Windows 10, like Windows 8 and Windows 7, it automatically defragments files for you on a schedule (by default, once a week). However, it does not always work consistently. Therefore, if you notice that the files take longer to load or if you just want to check each month, you can see how fragmented the drive is in Windows.
When you defragment the hard disk, all file fragments are moved to contiguous clusters. This allows Windows to easily read files and the computer starts working faster.
On your computer with Windows 10, defragmenting the system drive (C :) is enough. However, if you experience long loading times when accessing files stored in other partitions on the hard drive, you can also defragment them.
The process of defragmenting partitions on a hard drive is the same for each partition.
Here's how to defrag your computer.
Steps to follow:
1. Tap "Defrag" in the Cortana search bar and open the "Defragment and Optimize drives" option.
2. Select the hard drive you want to optimize and click "Scan".
Note: You still need to scan the drive to determine if the drive needs to be optimized. If the result indicates less than 10% of fragments, you probably do not need to optimize the drive.
If the files stored on the hard disk of your PC are scattered, defragmentation in this case is necessary.
3. Click on the "Optimize" button
4. Once the process is complete, the current state should show "0% fragmented".
Note: Depending on the number of files, drive size, and fragmentation, the defrag tool may take a long time to complete the task.
If you want to modify the scheduled optimizations, click on "Change settings". Here you can change the frequency as well as the defragmented readers. By default, this will happen on a weekly basis, but there are also options for daily and monthly optimizations.
