Introduction
Installing Windows Updates requires an active Internet connection to download available updates to your computer. However, sometimes we do not have an Internet connection or the Internet is slower than a turtle at its full speed.
If your computer is not connected to the Internet, it cannot be updated. But we all know that for our computers to work properly, we need to keep them up to date. What are the options for those who do not have access to the Internet but need to update their operating systems?
Portable Update is a free portable tool that allows you to back up update installation files to portable USB devices such as the external hard drive or flash drive, and apply them to other Windows computers without the need to be connected to the network. It works with almost any Windows system, on both desktops and server operating systems, 32-bit and 64-bit editions are supported.
Portable Update uses an external cache that stores all necessary updates. The cache can be on all external USB devices. The same updates stored in the cache can later be applied to all other computers.
Steps to follow
1. Download Portable Update from the following link
2. Then start it on a computer connected to the Internet.
3. Click the Start button in the main window to download the necessary components to the device.
4. Once done, it displays a window with multiple tabs to download updates to the cache or apply cache updates to the computer.
5. First, go to the Search tab, and then click the Start button in the upper-right corner to check for updates installed on a local computer.
6. Next, go to the Download tab to select the updates to download them to the cache for future use.
7. When the download is complete, you can find the Cache folder in the Portable Update folder that contains all the update installation files.
8. The History tab lists the updates that were installed on the local system by both the Windows Update service and the Portable Update tool.
To install updates on other computers
9. Copy the entire Portable Update folder and save it to an external USB device
10. Next run it once it is plugged into the other computer.
11. Go to the setup tab and select the available updates from the list to install them.
Windows will start installing updates. Wait for the installation to finish and you will have the latest version of your Windows.
