Introduction:

Since the version 1607 of Windows 10, Microsoft has added a new option that enhances the activation feature of Windows 10. Now it is possible to link our Microsoft account to the Windows 10 digital license of our PC. This re-enables Windows 10 using the Activation Troubleshooter even if you have changed your hardware or you are making a hardware change, such as disk substitution for the motherboard.
For several reasons, you need to change the components of your PC in Windows 10 but after that the system is no longer activated.
Before the integration of this feature you have to use Microsoft support for Windows 10, which was not very convenient.

Steps to follow:

If you use a local account, use this guide to link your Windows 10 product key to your Microsoft account to make it easier to reactivate.
1. Use the Windows + I keyboard shortcut to open the Settings application.
2. Click Update and Security.
3. Click Activation.
4. Click Add Account. (Your account must have administrator privileges to follow this process.

5. Enter your Microsoft account credentials and then click Sign In. If the Microsoft account you entered is not a connected account you must also enter the password for your local account.

When the process is done, the message "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account" on the Activation page indicates that the link has been processed successfully.
