Introduction


USB drives are very useful for most of us. However, have you ever found that it was an obstacle? While this is useful most of the time, there are also times when we want to be able to block the USB port just so nobody else can transfer the data from our machine or infect it with a virus behind our back. There are many ways to get there.
In this article we will see how to block the USB keys in reading by changing the registry.

Steps to follow

1- Press the Windows + R button to open the run dialog box.

2- In the dialog box, type Regedit and press Enter.

3- This will open the registry editor where you have to navigate to
HIKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CURRENT CONTROL SET -> SERVICE -> USBSTOR

4- In USBSTOR, you will find Start on the right.

5- Double-click Start and change the present value to 4 to disable the USB port.

If you want to activate it again, all you need to do is change the value to 3.
