Introduction

No matter which version of Windows you use, Task Manager is one of the most important and used tools. By using Task Manager, you can quickly end programs that do not respond, start new tasks, monitor your system's performance and activity, get details about running processes, and more.
This is particularly useful for accessibility and to know different ways to help you in different situations.

Different methods

Here are some ways you can use to open Task Manager in Windows.

1- Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete

You're probably familiar with the three-finger keyboard shortcut-Ctrl + Alt + Del. Until the release of Windows Vista, pressing Ctrl + Alt + Del takes you directly to the Task Manager. From Windows Vista, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to access the Windows Security screen, which offers options for locking your PC, switching users, logging out and running Task Manager.

3- Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc

The fastest way to view Task Manager (assuming your keyboard works) is simply to press Ctrl + Shift + Esc. As a bonus, Ctrl + Shift + Esc provides a quick way to view the Task Manager when using Remote Desktop or inside a virtual machine.

4- Press Windows + X to access the user menu

Windows 8 and Windows 10 both have an Advanced User menu that you can access by pressing Windows + X. The menu provides quick access to all types of utilities, including Task Manager.

5- Run "taskmgr" from the execution box or from the Start menu

The executable file name for Task Manager is "taskmgr.exe". You can launch the Task Manager by typing "taskmgr" into the Start menu search box and pressing Enter.
