Introduction

Microsoft has released its new Creators Update for Windows 10. Among the multiple innovations, there is the direct integration of Microsoft's mixed reality portal (Windows Reality Mixed) into the operating system. This feature brings benefits for developers and users.

Under the term "mixed reality" Microsoft summarizes both virtual reality headphones and augmented reality glasses, such as homemade hololens.
Controllers are also supported directly by the operating system with the new update. A central starting point for the user is the virtual environment "Cliff House", from which different content such as games can be viewed.

New APIs will be available to developers in the future, allowing them to better understand the spatial conditions of users or to adapt applications already developed for Holelens to closed VR glasses.

Steps to follow

The Microsoft Mixed Reality Portal is the application that allows you to launch mixed reality programs using a Windows mixed reality headset.

To start CyberLink Power Media Player MR on the Windows Reality Mixed Portal:

1. Connect the Windows Mixed Reality Headset to the PC.

2. Click the Start button, and then start the Windows Mixed Reality Portal application in the list of programs.

3. Put the headset on and press the Start key on the keyboard to open the Mixed Reality menu in the Windows Mixed Reality box.

4. Start Power Media Player MR in the All Applications list.

5. Pin the Power Media Player MR window anywhere in the Mixed Reality Zone using the Headset and Mixed Reality Controller.

The following examples illustrate how to pin the Power Media Player MR window in the Windows Mixed Reality box using a mouse, the Microsoft Motion Controller, and the Microsoft Xbox Controller:

• Use the mouse as a controller

1. Move the mouse cursor over the title bar of the Power Media Player MR window.

2. Left-click and hold to drag the window and pin it anywhere in the Mixed Reality area.
