Introduction

Do you know that Facebook tracks all your activities online? In recent years, Facebook has announced that it has started using all the apps and website data it collects to serve us with more targeted ads based on your search / browsing history, your search centres, interest and your preferences.

Initially, Facebook ads were shown only to Facebook users, but now the Facebook Public Network will follow you all over the web and collect all your information via cookies and serve you the targeted ads, on and off Facebook. The company added this new setting for advertisers to extend their campaigns beyond Facebook.

In other words, Facebook uses your browsing history for the benefit of advertisers.

Fortunately, you can adjust privacy settings on Facebook and stop the Internet giant from tracking your activities.

Here's how to disable Mobile Facebook Ad Tracking.

Steps to follow

4. If you want Facebook to display ads based on the websites and apps you use, change Yes to No by clicking "Choose setting"

By disabling this option, you can stop Facebook to serve Internet advertisements. However, these ads do not stop ads completely, but the ads do not interest you. You can still see ads based on what you do on Facebook.

This is also set to Yes by default. Click Edit, select NO, and stop serving ads on Facebook. Although this will not stop ads completely, you'll still get ads based on your age, gender, or location. In addition, your activities on Facebook will also be tracked and used to serve the advertisements.

Facebook ads are based on your preferences

Facebook keeps a record of all the actions you take, for example, the pages you like or a status you share. This record is then used to serve you the ads.

For example, if you like a recipe page, you'll receive relevant ads for cooking and food. Although this setup tab allows you to choose who, on your Facebook profile, can see your social actions, you still cannot ignore them completely.

Another example, if you have flowers in your preferences, you will get ads from florists. There is also a registry of websites and apps that you use outside of Facebook. You can, however, add or remove preferences, but this will not completely free you from ads. You can simply click on "Ads on apps and websites outside of Facebook companies" and edit the list.

"When you delete a preference, we no longer show you ads based on it, you can still see similar ads based on your other preferences, and changing your preferences affects the relevance and not the number of ads that you want to see, " explains Facebook.

You can also adjust these settings from your iPhone or Android device. You can choose whether you want to allow Facebook or other companies to offer interest-based ads or not.

For the iPhone: Simply go to your Phone Settings -> Privacy -> and Track Broadcast Limitation Ads.

For Android: Go to Google Settings -> Ads -> click "Disable interest-based ads" >> OK.
