Introduction
If you are using Outlook 2013/2016 or Outlook Web App, it is easy to import contacts from other email services.
You can use Microsoft Outlook with any email account including Gmail, however, Outlook does not synchronize your Gmail contacts in an integrated way. If you need to add your Gmail contacts to Office 2016, you'll need to manually import them to use them.
You can re-enter each contact one by one, of course, but we recommend importing all your contacts at once. In this article, we will show you how to export your contacts from Gmail to Outlook, and then export from Outlook to Gmail.
Steps to follow
To export Gmail contacts:
1. From your Gmail account, click Gmail >> Contacts.
2. Click More.
3. Next, click Export.
4. Select the group of contacts you want to export.
5. Select the export format in Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application).
6. Click Export.
7. When prompted, click Save As and navigate to a location to save the file.
To import from Outlook 2013 or 2016:
1. In the FILE tab, select Open and Export.
2. Select Import / Export.
3. In the Import and Export Wizard, select Import from another program or file.
4. Click Next.
5. Select Values separated by commas.
6. Click Next
7. In the Import File box, locate and select the .csv file where you saved your Gmail contacts.
8. Select Replace Duplicates with Items Imported, Allow Duplicates to be created, or Do Not Import Duplicate Items.
9. Click Next.
10. In the folder list, select the contacts folder where you want to import your contacts, and then click Next.
11. Click Finish.
You now have an address book filled with contacts that you can immediately start contacting from Microsoft Outlook.
