Introduction

One tip for protecting private data and for hiding search results files in Windows 10 is to exclude files or folders from indexing options. The Windows 10 search system is sufficiently improved to search and find everything inside your system. It is even able to search and find the contents of encrypted folders from your system drives. The other side Cortana also tries to learn your behavior to help you quickly find files, folders and access applications.

But sometimes you do not want the search to display your private folders and files. You may have to exclude files and folders from the search result. Windows 10 has a wonderful feature called Indexing Options. This will help you hide search result files or exclude your private folders from search results.

How to prevent some files from appearing in Windows Search? By default, Windows automatically indexes everything that is stored in the most common locations (Downloads, Documents, and Desktop), allowing you to quickly find your files or applications using the Windows Search box or the box Cortana.

If you want to hide certain folders / files to display in the search result, you must change the indexing options in Windows 10.
