With MS Office 2016, the latest productivity suite from Microsoft; MS Office 2016 has brought several new features. Thus, Microsoft has decided to allow users to customize their applications with backgrounds and custom themes. These can be considered as very nice changes.
The new MS Office 2016 has a default theme, a background image and a colour. This is actually a graphic design that appears in the background of all Office applications. If you change the default theme from an Office application, the change will apply to other applications as well.
The following tutorial will help you change the default Office theme and the appearance of Word, Outlook or any other Office 2016 application as well as the MS Office 2013 version.
Steps to change the default theme in MS Office 2016 and Office 2013
1. Open any Office application such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, or Excel. If you are greeted with the start-up screen, select Blank Document. Then go to File.
2. Select Options.
3. Click on General
4. Under Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office suite, go to Office Background and Office Theme. The default background is Circles and the default theme is In Colors. You can change it according to your choice.
In the current version of Office, there are 14 backgrounds to choose from. "Background" is an excessive term because these options only change a gray graphic in the upper right of your Office applications.
Microsoft's new strategy is a strong push for a consistent user experience which gives few options for a user to customize the look of his Windows and Office installations.
