Introduction:


The Communications tab in the Sound settings is basically designed to disable other sounds on the PC when a specific call is received via the PC. This tab allows you to improve existing sound features and to provide an excellent user experience. Here in this tutorial we will discuss how to customize the Communication tab in the sound on Windows 10.

Suppose you are listening to music in VLC or WMP or other software. In the middle, the Skype call comes. Then the role of the parameters under the communication tab begins. This tab offers 4 options, for example, reducing the sound of playing music to 80% when the Skype call arrives. If you chose this option, the sound level of the running music will drop to 80% when the Skype call arrives.

How to customize the communication tab in the sound on Windows 10

Using customization settings

1. To begin, press the Win + I keys on the keyboard to open the Settings application.

2. On the Settings application home page, click on the Personalization icon.

3. Click Themes in the menu on the left panel of the Personalisation interface.

4. Then click on Sounds.

5. A dialog box with the name Sounds opens.

6. Go to the Communications tab. You can see a list of options.

Mute all other sounds: Give zero priority to other sounds in relation to communication sounds on the PC.
Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%: To reduce the priority of other sounds in the unit by 80% when you make other calls.

Reduce the volume of other sounds by 50%: This third option reduces other sounds by 50% when you use the device to communicate. It is used to maintain the same priority of other sounds as compared to communication sounds.

Do nothing: Maintain sound quality without any reference to communication via PC.

7. Click the option you want to select. A black circle should appear in the selected empty circle.

As a last step, click OK and apply the changes.

Note: This black circle is called a radio button that allows you to select only one option from the number of preferences.

Therefore, you cannot choose multiple options in the Communication tab.

8. Click OK to customize the Communication tab in the sound in Windows 10.

Using the speaker icon in the taskbar

1. Right click on the Speakers icon in the lower right corner of the screen next to the date and time display.

2. A pop-up menu appears on the screen, click Sounds.

3. When finished, the Sound settings window appears on the screen.

4. As a last step, click OK and apply the changes.

With the above methods, you can easily customize the Communication tab in the sound in Windows 10 and can pick up the option required to balance the other sounds while having your call.
