Introduction:
A clean install of Windows 8.1 causes the uninstall of the existing operating system installed on a partition (a previous installation of Windows 8.1, Windows XP, Windows 10, Linux, Windows 7 ...), then the install of Windows 8.1. from scratch on the same disk. In other words, a clean install of Windows 8.1 is the best way to install or reinstall Windows 8.1. I always suggest doing a clean install rather than an upgrade from a previous version of Windows like Windows 7.
The step-by-step procedure below contains the installation steps and will guide you through a clean installation of Windows 8.1.
Steps to install Windows 8.1 on your PC
1. To start the Windows 8 setup process, you must start your computer from the installation source you are using: a DVD or a flash drive.
2. Choose the language, time and your keyboard and click Next.
3. Wait for the Windows 8 installation files to load
4. Once you have selected your options, click or tap Next. in the middle of the screen, just under the Windows 8 logo.
5. Wait for the Windows 8 Setup program to begin
6. Then click Install Now.
7. Enter your Windows 8 product key.

10. Choose on which file to install Windows 8.
11. The Windows 8.1 Setup program will now begin to install the operating system on the partition created from the free space you selected in the last step. All you have to do here is to wait.
12. The installation is in progress and will restart the computer automatically.
13. Now that your computer has restarted, Windows 8 can continue the installation. Wait for the Windows 8 Setup program to start again
14. At the end of the installation, the "Personlize" screen is displayed, which allows you to customize Windows 8 according to your preferences and proposes to choose the colour scheme and specify a computer name.
15. It is possible to select a "Quick Setup" that can be accepted. Choose "Customize" to refine each setting.
