Introduction
STEP 1: Creating a Windows Partition
STEP 2: Installing Windows
Introduction
You are a Mac user and you want to manage a PC at work, at home or access only a few applications specific to Windows 7? With the Boot Camp Assistant, you can use a dual boot system, with MACOS on one partition, and Windows 7 on another.
We propose you through this article the procedure to follow to install Windows 7 on your Mac using Boot Camp.
STEP 1: Create a Windows partition
Open the "Boot Camp Assistant" from the "Utilities" directory.
When you open the Boot Camp Assistant window, click "Continue"
Check the "download the latest Windows support for Apple" software that will be used to install the drivers and "Install Windows 7".
Set the partition size for Windows installation by dividing your hard drive into 2 parts. To do this, drag the pointer that separates Mac OS and Windows to the left.
NB: The disk space required to install Windows 7 is at least 16 GB. However, do not forget to allocate additional space for all the applications and documents that you intend to install on your Windows 7. We recommend you to set a minimum size of 40 GB.
Validate your choice by clicking on "Practitioner".
Insert the installation DVD later and click on "Start the installation"
STEP 2: Installing Windows
The computer starts on the Windows installation DVD and loads the installer.
When opening the installation window, select the language and click "next".
Then click on "Install Now".
The installation may take a few minutes.
Check the box "I accept the terms of the license agreement and validate".
Click on "Next".
Click "Custom" (since you are installing Windows for the first time)
A new window opens asking you to select the Partition on which you will install Windows.
Select "BOOTCAMP Partition" here in the example: "Partition 4: BOOTCAMP", by clicking on it.
Click Format.
In the window that opens titled: "Install Windows", confirm your choice on "OK"
The installation program starts and your Mac restarts.
Enter the user account and name the computer
Enter a password, etc.
You have the choice to check or uncheck the automatic Activation option.
Click on "Next".
Click on the option of your choice
Click on "Next"
Set Time and Time Zone,
Click Next
The configuration of Windows is finished.
