By default Word documents are saved as .docx format. However, there may be times when you need to use a different file type such as a PDF document.
Word and Excel in Office 2013 offer the ability to save documents directly to PDF without having to go through a converter. So how to save a Word or Excel 2013 as a PDF file?
To save a Word or Excel 2013 file as PDF you have two methods:
First method:
1. Click on the menu “file”
2. Then click on "save as"
3. Click on “browse” now you can choose where you want to save your file.
4. In "Type" you open the drop-down menu and select the PDF format.
5. Now you just have to save and your document will be saved as a PDF.
Second method:
1. Click on “file”
2. Click on “Export”. Now you can see that you can create the document in PDF / XPS.
3. Then click on "Create PDF / XPS" and you can see that the default type is in PDF.
4. Finally, you can have the document published in PDF format. If "Open file after publishing" is checked then your new PDF file should open automatically so that you can view it.
This is all you need to do to have a PDF file.
