Introduction:

Downgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 has become easier than before.
When Windows 10 was released in the summer of 2015, Microsoft proposed the operating system as a free update for existing Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. If you did not like a new operating system, you could easily go back to the previous version within 30 days.
If you did not like Windows 10, you can uninstall Windows 10 and downgrade your computer to its Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 operating system. You can still upgrade to Windows 10 again later.
Even if it's been over a month, you should be able to reinstall the version of Windows that came with your PC using a new installation media and product key.

There are three separate methods for those looking to uninstall Windows 10. If you have upgraded from Windows 7 or 8.1 in the last 30 days, there is a simpler way to revert to the previous version which does not require much effort and does not delete your files.
Most users will need to install an older version of Windows or upgrade to Linux to uninstall Windows 10 without leaving an empty hard drive.

Steps to follow:

Before you begin

1- Back up your important files on a separate medium. An external hard drive or cloud storage service can serve you as long as it is physically disconnected from the Windows computer you are working on.

2- It is also a good idea to download drivers for the different components of your computer before starting the installation process. This will make it easier to get started if Windows does not automatically select the appropriate drivers. Ethernet, Wi-Fi and graphics drivers, in particular, can facilitate the installation process.

3- Store these drivers on a USB key for easy access after Windows installation is complete.

4- You will also need the Windows product key for the version you chose - this is the 25-digit code that came with your Windows retail box or the Microsoft purchase receipt or is somewhere on your computer.

To go back to a previous version of Windows,

First method

1. Select Settings.

2. Click Update and Security

3. Then click Recovery.

4. Under Retransmit to an earlier version, click Start

The time you must go back depends on the version of Windows 10 that your PC is running after the upgrade. For example, if your PC is running Windows 10 version 1511, you have one month to go back to a previous version. If your PC is running Windows 10 version 1607 or later, you have 10 days to go back.

To find out what version of Windows 10 your computer is running after the upgrade, select Start button, then select Settings >> System >> About.)

Second method

If the demotion time is exceeded, it is possible to restore your computer to the factory settings. This reinstalls the version of Windows that came with your computer and removes the personal files, applications, and drivers that you have installed, as well as any changes made to the settings.

1. Select Settings.

2. Click Update and Security

3. Click Recovery

4. Then click Start under Reset this PC.

5. Click Restore factory settings.

Third method

If you have a product key for your previous version of Windows, use the Media Creation Tool to create an installation media for Windows 8.1 or Windows 7 and use it to perform a clean install.
