How to partition your drive in Windows 10
Among the new features added by Windows 10 is the disk partition.
This option allows you to manage your disk optimally by creating, deleting or formatting the partition, extending or reducing the size of a partition, marking a partition as active, and other options that this feature allows.
We will see in this article how to create a second partition on its hard disk.
1. Right-click on the start menu
2. Click Disk Management.
3- Right-click on (C:)
4. Select “shrink volume”
5. Enter a value in " Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB", for example if you want a new partition of 100 GB, then enter 100000 MB in the amount of space to be reduced to add this space to the new partition Virtual disk.
The "Total size after shrink in MB" indicates the current size of drive C: after modification.
6. To add the new disk, click New Simple Volume, and then click Next on the Create Simple Volume Wizard to the Format a Partition step.
7. Select Format this volume, then, Choose NTFS by default and give it a Volume Name. You can choose to do a quick format to save time. Then, click Next.
8. Click Finish to validate the creation of the new partition.
9. Finally, you will see the new partition next to the main partition in disk management.
If you want to delete an already existing partition, you must:
1. Back up existing data on this partition.
2. Format this partition
3. Right-click C: and select "Extend volume” to automatically add unallocated space to the partition and store more data.
