Microsoft is preparing to directly integrate an eye-tracking system into Windows 10. Currently called Eye Control, it is an eye tracking system that allows users to navigate the operating system using only their eyes and eye movements.
Already available in the latest Insider builds of the OS, Eye Control allows you to use the tracking hardware to use the mouse cursor and the visual keyboard just with the look. Microsoft intends to launch this functionality this fall with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

This feature will interest a particular segment of Microsoft users, this integration should not change the habits of the general public.
Currently, this feature is only compatible with a particular hardware, namely a "Tobii Eye Tracker 4C" camera and only supports US keyboards.

This PC device can record eye movement and determine which interface the user is watching. Until now, this device has been dedicated especially to players, since Tobii eye-tracking technology has been added by PC makers and player screens.
Indeed, eye-tracking merges a set of techniques to remember eye movements. It is used in several fields including computer science, in particular in the design of human-machine interfaces.

Microsoft says other hardware will be supported in the future. The feature should be launched with the Fall Creators update as a general public beta. The Fall Creators update will also incorporate a number of other accessibility enhancements primarily focused on things like Narrator (Read Speech) and tools to help read and write.

It is for this reason that using this type of machine to navigate natively on an operating system like Windows 10 is good news.

If you are a Windows insider, the feature can be tested in the latest versions of Insider.
