Introduction:

It is always interesting in Windows 10 to recieve a message that you do not have permission to access a folder on your own computer. Sometimes, when you attempt to access a folder, Windows locks you with an access denied error.
Of course, if you are not an admin on your computer you will get these messages when you attempt to access protected folders or other user files.

However, if you have admin rights and you still see these denied permissions, here is how to fix it.

Steps to follow:

1. Open a File Explorer window and navigate to the folder you want to access.

2. Right-click on it and choose Properties.

4. Next, click the Advanced button at the bottom. Here you will see a text that says admin: and probably cannot display the current admin next to it.

5. Click on Edit on the right of the window to change the admin of the item.

Now, you must select the people or groups that can access the resource.

6. In the box “Enter the object name to select”, type Administrators to allow all PC administrators to access it, or simply your username if you prefer.

8. Click OK to accept it.

9. Finally, return to the Advanced Settings window, select the Replace all authorization entries check box. This allows you to access this entire folder without having to repeat these steps.
