Introduction:
When you perform a custom installation of Windows Vista or Windows 7, Windows creates a Windows.old folder. This folder contains all of the previous Windows system files, installed programs, and settings and documents for all user accounts.
You may want to recover your personal files from the Windows.old folder and move them to the Windows Custom installation.
To restore your personal files, here is the way to go.
Steps to follow:
1. Open File Explorer.
2. In the left column, click This PC.
3. Open your local (C :) disk where Windows is installed (with a Windows icon).
4. Locate and open the Windows.old folder.
5. Copy or move folders and files from your old system that are available.
6. The Program Files (x86) and Programs folders contain your old applications. You can save the ones you want.
7. Therefore, it is recommended that you move the Users folder that contains the settings and documents for the different user accounts on your previous Windows. It is in this folder that you will find an old document.
